The cutter function test is very helpful in that it will help to isolate mechanical and electrical failures of the trimmer system. The two errors most likely to occur during this test are:
Cutter Stepper Index Error - the moveable knife is not at the home position at the time that the needle starts to come down.
Cutter Time Out Error - the sensors fail to detect home within the specific amount of time programmed into the firmware and software.
Test Procedures:
1. Remove the needle plate and bed plate and verify that there are no obstructions.
2. Remove the bobbin and use compressed air to blow out any residue collected in the rotary hook assembly.
3. Clean out the trimmer area and lubricate the moveable knife following the steps prescribed in "Moveable Knife Lubrication".
4. Turn the machine ON and start up the AMAYA OS.

5. Click on the "Maintenance" menu from the AMAYA OS Main Menu and select the "Steppers" tab (Figure 1).
6. Under the "Cutter" column click on the "Start Test" button.

7. Click on the "Sensors" tab and observe the cutter status. It should be alternating between "Open" and "Blocked". In addition, the knife should be extending and retracting back under the adjustable knife without any obstruction or resistance. If all this is happening, everything in the cutter circuitry is good.
8. Return to the "Steppers" menu and click on "End Test" button to stop the test.
9. If you still get cutter related errors, take a look at the moveable knife adjustment and the condition of the under thread presser.
