Bearing Block Lubrication

(Installed on Y-Rail)

The y-rail bearing block assemblies requires lubrication every 20,000,000 revolutions of the z-shaft.  Use only standard sewing machine oil to lubricate the bearing block assemblies.

CAUTION:  DO NOT APPLY GREASE TO THE Y-RAILS.  If you do so, machine performance will be impaired.  Grease will attract dust, which will serve as an abrasive against the bearings and the shaft.

If you follow the procedure as described below, it is not necessary to remove the machine’s red transparent covers. If desired, the red covers can be removed to make the oiling holes easier to access.

  1. Move the x-carriage to the center of the y-rails.

  2. Use the image below to locate the oiling hole on the top center of each bearing block assembly.

  3. As shown in the image below, place the oiler under the red transparent cover so that the tip touches the oiling hole on the bearing block assembly. (You may find it helpful to bend the oiler tip). Add five drops of sewing machine oil to the oiling hole. Repeat for the oiling hole on the other side of the machine.
