TIP:
Sewing on Bridal Satin
- Wrap your outer hoops with foam athletic tape (does not leave marks on
fabric and you can purchase at your local pharmacy) this is a prewrap tape
for athletes
- Smallest needle should be used and make it a sharp (65/9)
- Never use edge walk pr zig zag underlay, the more needle
penetrations the more your fabric will shred and run.
- Lighten up your density. This fabric has an extremely high thread
count per inch, and is not necessary to use a heavy density to keep
stitches up. (4.1 pts and and higher)
- Never use solvy or solu fab, this will water mark your fabric.
- Last use steam to press, never an iron.

TIP:
When Do I “Right Click” in EDS IV?
Here are three examples of when to use the right mouse button in EDS IV.
- Right Click on any tool selection to determine it’s properties prior
to it’s use. Example: Point to the Walk Normal tool button. Then Right
Click on the button. Now you can setup it’s properties for future use in
digitizing.
- Right Click in a blank area of the Tree View Window to change the size
of the element images. Example: After pointing to any blank area of the
Tree View Window and right clicking, select Tree Image Size. Another
window will popup that gives you the sizes to choose from. (Good Tip for
those of you who have trouble seeing the images in the tree.)
- Right Click after you have digitized an element. Now you have the
digitizing tools quicker than selecting them from the tool bar menu.
Example: Digitize a Walk Normal stitch. Hit enter to complete the element,
then Right Click to access all of your digitizing tools in a popup window.
This will save you the steps of leaving the digitizing session to grab a
tool from the menu bar.

TIP:
Small Letters
Do you have problems sewing out small letters? If so here are some tips to
help make small letters look better.
- In EDSIV you must refer to the code sheets to see what alphabets can be
sewn small. Most closest point alphabets can be sewn smaller than the non
-closest point alphabets.
For example to sew small letters from .30 and below, follow the following
suggested parameters:
Stitch Length: 15 points
Horizontal Spacing: 0.02-0.03
Column Width: 120%
Density: 4.0 - Do not use Auto Density
Short Stitches: Off
Underlay: Center Walk, Stitch Length: 15 points

TIP:
Saving Styles
Did you know that saving styles in EDSIV could be a big help for your
business? Saving styles can eliminate trying to remember what parameter
settings previously used. For example to save the Small lettering tip to a
style you just do the following:
- Go into the lettering parameter box in EDSIV.
- Set the alphabet to be used, for example Open Block looks very clean
small, so we will use it as an example.
- Select Open Block font style, set the height to .30 and follow the
parameters suggested for small letters and click on the Style button in
EDSIV. Type Small Letters as the file name, click on save.
- The next time you sew small letters just simply go to the Style button,
click on the drop down arrow to select the Small Letter style previously
saved.
- All the settings are now back to be used again.
- Your saved styles can also be stored on a floppy diskette and removed
from your hard drive.
- Just simply go to the Styles sub folder under the EDSIV folder.

TIP:
Poly Mesh or Nylon Mesh Backing
To avoid the unsightly patch of backing visible through the white or light
knit shirt, try using this exceptional backing. Instead of cutaway, use two
sheets of the Mesh backing placed in opposite directions. You will not be able
to see the backing through the shirt.
This backing is also nice to use on delicate fabrics and children’s
garments.
You can order this backing through MelcoMart www.melcomart.com
or by calling 800-877-4272.
