By scaling, you can reduce or enlarge an element horizontally, vertically, or equally in both directions. When you scale an element, all of the embroidery properties are preserved. After the scaling modifications are complete, the stitches are re-generated according to the new outline that you have created.
You can scale multiple elements. You can also scale elements manually in the View Window.
Proportional: By having this option on (with a check mark in the box), you are sure to scale the design equally both the horizontally and vertically. If you would like to only scale horizontally or only scale vertically, you can turn this option off by clicking on the Proportional box (which will remove the check mark).
Horizontal: This is where you can specify an exact percentage or measurement to scale horizontally.
Vertical: This is where you can specify an exact percentage or measurement to scale vertically.
Expanded Stitch Processor: This version of EDS IV contains an expanded stitch processor. The stitch processor is invoked when scaling an expanded design. It will automatically increase or decrease the design stitch count when the design is scaled up or down.
Note that when scaling expanded designs the stitch length does not change.
The expanded Stitch Processor is always enabled when graphically scaling an expanded design. To scale an expanded design without stitch processing, follow the steps listed below:
Un-check the "Expanded Stitch Processing" control on the Scale Tab.
Enter the desired scale factors.
Click on Apply or OK.
To maintain approximately the same density, the Column and Fill Density controls should be set to 100%.
You may not want to use stitch processing while scaling an expanded design for the following reasons:
If you are scaling 30 - 40% more or less than original.
If you are scaling more than twice the size of the original
When wanting to scale an expanded design with stitch processing, you also have the options to change the Column/Satin Density percentage and Fill Density percentage. To do this, you will need to click on the "Stitch Processing" Tab. Below is a picture of the Stitch Processing Tab:
Any time that you are in a property page, you can click "Apply" after making a change and it will immediately apply your change. The advantage of using "Apply" verses clicking "OK" after a change is that you can apply your changes and still move on to making other changes. Once you click on "OK", your changes will be applied and the property dialogues will close and you will be back at the View Window. You can also click "Cancel" and the property dialogues will close without implementing the last change.
